Hello. I recently inherited a G scale Bachman Royal Blue train set. Building and outdoor layout, track powered LGB track. Planning on using the coaches not the engine. After inspecction of the Bachmann coaches, not sure they will hold up outdoors. Would upgrading to a LGB 3080/3081 be worth the expense?

Have serveral of the smaller LGB coaches 3010, they feel a lot more solid in my hand vs the Bachmann. Planning on pulling these coaches with a LGB 2017 with a powered tender. Before dropping $200 on a 3080 and 3081 looking for guidance on if worth it? Running on R2 curves. Upgrading to metal wheels.

Bachmann stuff is fine outdoors - the only real difference is that you may have to handle it a bit more gently, but I have a majority of Bachmann stock, always have had, no problem.

Upgrading to metal wheels and wider R2 curves is certainly worth doing.

Plastic wheels pick up crud and bigger curves mean less wear and tear on track and locomotives....

As said earlier Bachman is fine outside, we had on the Ruschbahn some bogie open and flat wagons on the Ruschbahn that lived outside in all seasons in UK with no issues. Though I would not leave them out in full sun all year like we did with those wagons which were mostly in a shady location.
