Pulsed Smoke In Lgb 26813 (99 7238-1) With Esu Loksound Xl 4.0 - How?

Hello,

I have installed ESU loksound in LGB 26813 (BR 99 7238-1 of HSB). All is fine except of pulse sync of sound with wheel s.

Here some new smoke generator, with less wiring then in 99 222, so no directions how to connect it to clock input of loksound decoder. I dig out all internet. Nothing.

Pic of smoke unit is below. Have somebody any ideas?

Is it a variant of the Massoth smoke generator? If so then I think the clock input and GND should be 2 of the pins on the white socket, as shown in this image from a Massoth manual?

I'm not familiar with the LokSound, but I think with LokSound V4 you can assign a function output to be "Exhaust chuff". The problem is, I assume this would be a common positive output but the smoke generator needs Input & GND ?

Or have I misunderstood, and your problem is how to connect wheel sensor to the decoder?

If it was a 'full' Massoth the chuff sensor would connect into the pulsed smoke generator, and then a lead would go to the decoder..

It would appear you need to feed a sensor into both the decoder and smoke unit??? Could the leads be commoned, I wonder?
 
The problem you have here is that there are two different ways of controlling pulsing smoke units andvyou sre trying to use both!
Massoth based units control the fan and heater elements and connect with a Massoth decoder for power supply and programming.
Pretty much everyone else uses the decoder to control a simpler smoke unit. You can try doubling up the clock (pulse generator) to both decoder and smoke unit and split the SUSI connections so that you can program it. I suspect it would be a lot less hassle to fit an Esu or Zimo smoke unit and let the decoder do the work as the connections are straight forward and the programming of CVs is simpler.

I have the same loco and installed a Massoth sound decoder in it. I doubled up the factory installed supply from the wheel sensor to the smoke unit and it worked fine. You just need to tap off the GND and Clock connections and run these into the decoder.

No, just 'Y' off the wiring.

The problem is that this is not a Massoth pulsed smoke generator.

Three wires come from hall sensor to smoke unit. And usually then form there they come to decoder.

Well, to Y-fy hall sensor wires (3 wires) is may be good idea but there: GND, Pulse, +6,5V. I am afraid if I will feed 6,5V to decoder back it could burn smth.

I guess, there in smoke generator 3 contacts to solder. I saw then, when dismantled it. But what is the wiring I dont know and I afraid to burn smth.

But to ring this leads from hall sensor to output contacts of smoke unit is a good idea, thanks.
 
If you want to use the same wheel sensor for the pulsed smoke and the ESU XL 4 decoder, you only need to connectthe GND & INPUT wires from the sensor to the decoder and Smoke unit. The Power connection to the Generator should only come from one source (i.e. the smoke generator).

.. which goes back to the photo I posted right back in post #2 showing only two of 3 wires connected to the smoke generator's clock input socket (the power wire is cut). I've got to say that the MLGB unit sure looks like it's made by Massoth, going by the photo of it?
 
It is a Massoth supplied pulsed smoke unit - the "ME" bit on the sticker gives it away :)
