Yes a bargain compared to other gscale tables.
However………
They are not, imho, really suitable for outdoors…unless the unit is covered/protected when not in use.
I do see that the fiddly ball bearing arrangement has been replaced. This is great.

on sale currently in Europe. But i am sure customs will charge me 20% VAT when delivered to UK. still sounds like a good deal, i am tempted. These retails for £700+ in UK
 
Continued working with the DC setup and testing. Had a Momentary Motor Polarity Reverse Rocker Switch DC 20A 12V DPDT 6 Pin 3 Position ON/Off/ON Motor Control in inventory….photo attached. Putting that between track power and contact plate allowed loco to move from turntable to main track. Not graceful but it works. Hopefully the DCC will utilize the reverse loop in the decoder.

The turntable involves structural precision as well as electrical precision. It remains to be seen whether I leave it out for long periods. The instructions suggest a cover if left outside. Also, they warn to make sure it does not sit in water.

Somewhere in the area if stand 61,63 or 65 someone was offering second hand wagons and buts at the Show last Saturday. Included in the offers was a good sized Turntable and Traverser ‘for offers’. Nit sure who or where they were from, could have been a society stand just fitted in.

I actually ordered pola one. Not sure if will build on current layout - but discount is too good to refuse
 
Setup and test of the Pola Turntable in DC mode is complete.
I have now wired the turntable to the Roco Z21 XL control unit. Specifically, from the Program Track terminal to the turntable decoder unit terminals X1 and X2. And the turntable contact plate to decoder terminals X7 and X8. Multimeter indicates power coming into decoder and power at X7 and X8 but the decoder’s led lights are not on. Various programming attempts fail.
I will continue researching the turntable instructions to discover my errors.
Suggestions welcome.
 
DCC control unit reads the cv values from turntable decoder and displays them in the Z21 app. Unfortunately, the turntable does not respond to the Z21 app commands. I feel sure that I’m missing a necessary communication step.

I should also add the loco runs nicely onto turntable even when I manually rotate table 180•. I believe this indicates the reverse loop function in decoder is active.

You need to give it a name and CV1 number in the Z21, I would think it would be in the locomotive area rather than as an accessory as with the motor it is effectively a locomotive.
 
Long day on the learning curve to program DCC communication between Roco Z21 XL controller and the Pola Turntable. Assigning an address to the turntable as a Loco did not succeed to establish control of the turntable via the Z21 app. I reviewed all the CV values and was able to activate the circuit board led lights and the lights that I attached to terminals X9/X10 and X11/X12. I assigned track numbers via CV addresses. All the various CV values did not produce rotation activation.
The Z21 app is a graphic application. There is a graphic turntable representation in the app. The turntable did not respond via the app as a loco graphic nor as a turntable graphic.
Suggestions welcome.
 
Not having access to the instructions:

Is it a 'driving' decoder? - Needing a loco address.
OR:
Is it an 'accessory' decoder? - Needing an address like those used for driving points etc.
CV29 - long address, or short address?

Does it suggest you used the speed control knob to rotate the turntable?
Do you select a road-number, and just press 'go'?
Do you use two function buttons, one for clockwise, one for anti-clockwise?

Just a few ideas to work through..

I went to a G Society gig at Horsley in Surrey today, lo and behold a new Pola Turntable that I was given a demonstration of. It was being driven by a Massoth Handset and like you the guy soent many hours trying to get it working!

1 he set it up as an accessory in the 1-4 range meaning he had to reassign those of his points using that range.
2 to get it to turn he used accessory 3
3 to actually turn the table he used the right button on the handset this being the equivalent of forwards or reverce.
4 2 presses of that button speeded up the table or slowed it down
5 7 turned the cabin lights on and off

Whether this all helps with the Z21 is unknown but may point a way for you I hope,

He was very disgusted that for the price Pola do not give any instructions on making the thing work!

I have the original Pola turntable (when Pola was an independent organisation endorsed by Lehman Patent Works) never used digital gimmicks for control, works satisfactorily in analogue state. But what advice is really needed today is how to make the reissued product work specifically with the current Mfx system which Maerklin place in today’s LGB locos and accessories. This would help new would be purchasers make up their minds about the wisdom of the investment.
 
Had a look at the link to the instructions and these are my thoughts -

Have you set any values for CV 200 ? (assuming you are using low switch addresses, otherwise CV 199)

It looks as though the turntable as supplied has all the address CV's set to 0. As there are 24 exits for the turntable, the ones that you wish to use must be given an address.
The addresses are applied in the range CV 200, 202 etc to CV 246 even numbers only for low switch addresses.

The 'home' position will be at CV 200 (or CV 199) and all the other exits are counted from there anti-clockwise. For the exits that are not used their values will be left at 0

Note that all the exits can have an address including those that are half a rotation or opposite another position.

Got the thing delivered today. The best part - His Majesty Revenue And Customs somehow missed the parcel - it is arrived to my door at exactly £395 . I don't get how HMRC works - sometimes they send a bill before delivery - sometimes not.
