I have always loved playmobil.
My son and i had many hours of story/ role playing play time when he was young. Pirates, western, knights, adventurers, etc. love the detail items that help to create a universe. Just like any train set, miniature world. As a young parent, initially playmobil seemed pricey. But, due to its long lasting interest and play value, especially with each new piece added, it is in the long run, a great value. Still have gobs, but not much int the way of pm trains. A loco , so my son could insert PM drivers, and, pull lgb stock. That is until he was old enough to use my lgb. Short lived.
I guess, parents dont understand in part, because, they dont get the story telling fantasy aspect that children can create. Figures, dolls, soldiers (GI Joe) are a great vehicle for this. But, it takes a mindset to be creative, and, let a story unfold. Or, simply a variation on a movie, tv show that is told, again, with the figures.
Love that diesel and rake of shorty aristos ( which fwiw, are prototypes of very early US private company box cars, as ive seen the photos). Ill bet rc is a hoot, too.
Do i mix lgb and playmobil? No. To my eye, the style is too different.
