I see that Piko curved points are in stock at Dragon. Anyone tried them?
Top notch picture Colin. Thanks!shropshire lad said:The outer curve is Piko R5 and the inner is Piko R3
Girt big things tho!
There are check rails, they aren't very clear on the picture..gep4 said:no check rails ? are they such large radius that check rails are deemed not necessary! i am very surprised !

Thanks for that. If I get the message correctly, two of these beasties back-to-back gives a 90 degree curve, inner radius Piko R3 (921.54mm), outer radius Piko R5 (1243.08mm). Crikey!
Colin - does your new point need extensive testing with a wide variety of visiting locos?![]()
In view of the history of the other Piko points I would recommend having a look under the cover plates before installing to check connections AND putting extra insulation between the cross-over wires.steve parberry said:Just wondering have they changed anything underneath?
Different wires or screws?
If no one has posted any before I make it back home I'll have a look and post some pics if you like?steve parberry said:Just wondering have they changed anything underneath?

I bought some R5 points off someone who was nervous about using them and the connections were fine on them. I do however silicone grease the exposed connections on all the points I use outside regardless of their make.
It' s shame they didn't bother to reply to my two emails or the UK importers emails setting out the problems.Deutsche Reichsbahn said:This is the answer I got from my contact at PIKO when the wiring issues were brought up the last time:
It's a problem that's already known by PIKO. We already did some changes there. Seems like the guys with this problem own some of the "older" R5 swichtes.
So, don't expect problems with these curved switches. If you do, immediately contact PIKO, or me. I will then forward it to them.
