Another eBay bargain, this one hardly used with a small scratch on the container (just above the word "bei").

This model represents the prototype SBB Cargo Sgnss type wagon, specifically 31 85 455 2 318-1:

Unlike the tarp wagon I described last week, this is rather out of scale. The real Sgnss is nearly 20 m long.

This would be about 800 mm in 1:25 scale whereas this model is only 486 mm. The sharp eyed will notice it is the same body as the tarp wagon (Shimmns) which is 12 m long in real life. A true scale model 800 mm long would have "some difficulty" in getting around R1 curves. This takes LGB's famous "rubber ruler" into another league!

The container is 300 mm long which is about right for the 7.45 m SBB Cargo containers at 1:25 scale.

Having said that the appearance is not too far off the prototype:

I will do some minor detailing like with the tarp wagon. To assist with this I took it all apart:

Note that the container has opening rear doors, but the side sliding doors are just painted on (the black square). I have some 30 mm metal wheels ready to fit.

Minor details painted, reassembled and 30 mm metal wheels fitted. Now ready for service.
I might add brake pipe and coupling chain at a later date.
