Phase 3 ? The Koi Pond.

WOW! I bet that lot took some moving. Astound us with some figures, how many tons of rock have you moved , how much water will it hold ?

I've moved 9 tonnes of rocks, but you can't see most of them in those pictures. Some of them took two to move.
The pond will hold about 22,000L.

make sure you get all that cement dust and slurry out before adding koi, as they dont like it up them. dudley, full time manager of pond aquatic centre. and part time g scaler.

Koi will be the last piece of the puzzle, thanks for the advice. I was thinking about sealing the outside face of the Dam ? (inside face is lined)

funny,,, your garden looks like mine ,,, except you have now surged ahead
are you concreating your pond and painting it
or fibreglass or liner

Liner.
The pond will take a bit longer to finish, as I'm working on building the waterfall and then building the rest of the walls around the garden to put the spoil.

Further to having to remove a pond due to a split liner i could only recommend not to take this route .Or make 100% sure you lay it on sand and old carpet to be sure that no sharp objects make there way through the liner.
Dont ask how i know :crying:

G4 paint the dam, its expensive but plastic paint and safe for fish, comes in plain, black, green, blue.

yes g4 is expensive,,, there is another product with more colours available which has had very good reviews

and its cheeper and easier to use,,,

im still thinking about fibre glassing mine,, still have to seal it before you glass it though
expensive buisness ponds,,

I had an aquarium that was fibre glassed over concrete.
However I didn't specify that it needed to be suitable for fish because I didn't realise that was a potential problem with fibre glass after all it's fibre and glass.
The water went very very green and I lost some expensive fish. Apparently most fibre glasses give off urine since that is part of the curing process.

After that a second tank built the same way I filled with water and left for 9 months. That solved the problem.

good info graham,,, im only into cat drowning so if it smells of wee so much the better,,,

only kidding,,,,

thanks for the info though

Hi everyone,

Not posted for a while, been busy.............
Anyway the pond is still not finished and because of the hose pipe ban, won't at the moment. BUT the mountain is and the bridge over the pond is as well.

Absolutely astounding, a garden, a railway and a pond all built at once in harmony. This is going to be absolutely knock-out in a couple of years when the plants are bedded in. Two thumbs up from me, but only because I don't have more thumbs to put up!

A great piece of landscape gardening and civil engineering that's coming together brilliantly - watch out for those hernias! (Happened to me shifting several tons of big rocks.)

WOW WOW and WOW this is brilliant in every way you must have the patience of a saint combined with incredible talents.
10 out of 10 and thanks for sharing .

Nice bridge - you don't often see herringbone strutting nowadays - usually just offcuts for noggins :thumbup::thumbup:

Duncan i think this makes most of our efforts look a little poor should we pull the thread quick :rolf:
