No sound after chipping

I have fitted LGB 55021 DCC chips to both my stainz loco's. On neither of them can I turn the basic 'chuff' sound on, whatever function button I press on my 55015P handset.(MTS 2 )
Is there a CV setting that has to be re-set or are these loco's now mute?
Lights and smoke work as per the book.

That's odd, I have a "basic chuff" Stainz that I had chipped for me with a 55021, I didn't do it myself because that was back when I was very new to MTS/DCC (with an MTS2 set like yours) so I'm afraid I don't know if anything else was adjusted, but the sound works just fine..... were yours both "direct decoder" plug-in installations where the decoder simply piggy-backs onto the main board? I'm not actually sure whether I can turn the chuff OFF on mine, or whether it is simply on all the time....?

Jon.

Is the Stainz one of the models where you have to remember to flip all the dip switches over when you fit a decoder? Maybe one of the dips affects the sound? You have plugged the speaker back into the main board?

I don't think you can turn off the chuff with DCC on the basic chuff stainz, so it is very odd it is not on.

Does changing the cab switch to different positions do anything?

Both had direct ( plug in ) fittings and yes, the dip switches were all turned to off - the cab switch either isolates the loco or turns off the lights.

How many DIP switches? - If six, turn on the last two, perhaps??

Many thanks for all helpful replies. Dismantled one of them to check that I had, indeed reconnected the sound multi plugs, then tried the switches.
Sound restored ! ( some of us do things the hard way!).
Trouble is, it sounded like the noise my parrot makes when he throws a 'wobbler'
Turned the cab switch to 'silent mode'!
Now to work out how to silence the endless 'on board' messages on London Underground trains !

I was taught by Norbet of Massoth that to get the sound on the Stainz to work on DCC you must wire the sound board direct to the motor terminals. I have carried this out for lots of my friends with success. Also do the same with Radio control ESU.
