OK...update...The locomotive operates in MTS only! I had it tested on an MTS layout. The Phoenix Sound is programmed to the proper MTS buttons. It WILL NOT go at all in DC. So, either I'm going to have to.invest in an MTS system or something that will hopefully operate DCC and MTS And operate the whistles etc. There are no reed switches or magnets all sounds are done by remote. Still highly confused but at least I know.It operates! And it is very impressive!
We previously established the loco has an LGB 55021 decoder. so most likely someone turned off the DC support in CV29 bit 3 (bit 2 if counting from 0) - this was mentioned by others in previous posts.
If so you then need someone with a DCC system to re-program the decoder for you (how about the guy with the MTS layout?)
Of course under DC you won't have access to all the bells and whistles on-demand: You should get chuffs and other background noises, probably with other random sounds depending on what the Phoenix is set to do.
