Well as 2012 comes to a close I thought I'd post some pictures of what happened during the year G scale wise.
1st up, on the 2nd Jan 2012 Harzer 2-6-2 tank leaves Nutbrook on a early morning service.

Moving onto early Feb, and just after me birthday I decided to treat meself. I had put some redundancy money away to one side to purchase the Trainline Harzer Mallett when it was to be released, however this Harzer 2-10-2 came up on the second hand market at a reasonable price from a model shop at York and temptation was too much to resist. Here she is at rest on the 8th Feb, the day after purchase. (ps, keep it quite Swmbo doesn't realise its mine)

1st outing of the year (yes they do let me out from time to time) was to Mikes LGB III on March the 4th. A few of us got together, but it was a dam cold day. It was my 1st visit to LGB III and what a smashing job he is doing up there.

15th March, I went over to see Fred (Dragon) as he only lives about half an hour away, and I had visited frequently to help him build his railway up. This was purely a running session though. It was this day that Fred announced that his railway was to close and these were probabley the last shots of trains running in his garden. A sad day indeed.

12th April, Edward (MMTS) dropped in on his travels and enjoyed a running session.
PS, he's not shy of a bacon butty or two either.

22nd April was the big event in G scale of the year in the UK. G Rail was held at the Staffordshire Showground and was the best G scale show I've been to, a credit to all who organised it. I attended with Steve Parberry, fresh off the operating table (Steve not me) and met loads of you. Here's a few shots that I managed to take.

Areas of my own railway were being developed and detailed. Here a few random shots from April, in the middle of the drought.

Thanks for all the comments guys........:bigsmile:
Moving on, I decided to have an open day and the date was set for the 7th of July. Preparation work was duly underway, and a lot of hard work was put in to get me railway up to scratch, however the drought season had ended and the Monsoon season had begun, in other words it came down in bucket loads and the garden was sinking. This was the day before me open day on 6th July. I had no choice but to cancel the event.

Mid July and after the closure of Fred's Windy Bottom, I went over to see him and [strike]scrounged[/strike] he gave me his big red bridge (see post 5). I figured I could replace the old Nutbrook bridge with this if I could widen it to take the double tracks that run over this bridge. This was duly done over a week and is a fitting reminder that part of a mates railway still lives on at the bottom of my garden. The old bridge didn't take much dismantling as it hit the deck.

22nd July, and a good mate of mine Bruce (798.03) held a open day with an Saxionan theme. Needless to say there was lots of Meyers there and other types as well. It was a nice day and the scenery are these parts of the country are to die for.
