My Loco Sound Question

One of my power trailing boxcars is equipped with a My Loco Sound of Steam system. I would like to use the trailing car behind other non-steam outline locos. Couldn't I simply place an on/off switch between the speaker and the sound module ?

You could just switch the speaker. But as the MLS's power input connections are wired parallel to those from the incoming track/ESC voltage and battery/back up, you could swich the whole card out, not just speakers. Are you track or battery operation ? You could even install multiple switchable MLS cards in the trailing car  Have a sound for everything on your roster ! They make diesel, petrol railcar and tram. I have all 4 types. Make them switchable depending on what is pulling the trailing car. Max.

I am battery powered and so are my trains.....:giggle:.....That's not a bad idea about installing a diesel sound module also in the trailing car.

Yes, just switch one of the speaker wires..

You can't easily 'turn-off' the soundcard, because you would have to switch both of the power and both of the motor leads..

But the simplest way, is to press the mute button on the TV remote.
Simples! :nerd:
