Just a daft question, has Modell Land stopped sending stuff to us lot here in the U.K.?

Just I was trawling for some spare parts, the other day, created a basket, then noticed that we are not listed as a postage option.

I have purchased from them in the past, but that was pre a certain close call decision we made in this country.

BTW I have asked them directly via their web site, but not had a reply as of yet.

Unless things have changed they will not send to the UK

Correct.

I had an exchange of emails with them in September 2021 in which they confirmed "shipping to the UK is no longer possible" and, when asked why, just said "this was decided by our management".

Their unwillingness to collect UK VAT (post-brexit) on behalf of HMRC is almost certainly the reason.

Cheers

David

It’s a shame they no longer send to the UK
I bought a fair amount of stuff from them.
Some of their “own brand” items were good value, and in some cases filling small holes in the market - such as point decoders, DCC control units and power buffers giving alternatives to the products offered by Massoth.

Those ML Digital products are all MD-Electronics/Mxion products. You can buy them direct from mXion Modellbahntechnik and they do ship to UK/Jersey.

Right I have had the reply,

They don't supply to us over here.

But, they suggest, "Have a good day and stay healthy!"

They obviously don't know me then.

BTW, one of the things that I was interested in was...

Just if someone can point me in the direction of a suppler.

Sadly even with my own little business I have had to refuse jobs and sales to the EU since 2019, I have had things returned due to the customer not understanding about duties and customs. Items not even leaving the country because of wrong commodity codes or origin decelerations. I can probably understand modellands point of view but it has improved and as long as a decent international courier is used it’s ok (as their procedures are more honed and slick), the bureaucratic paperwork for one 10 euro lgb plastic part is incredible.

I sent one thing to Germany via post in 2020 and received a letter back stating that it had been incinerated for biohazard safety reasons !

Hopefully they will review this if enough people keep asking, if only we had stuck to a free trade principle to the EEC and not tried to turn it into a bureaucratic political cesspool things might be much better.

Visited ESR today as the opportunity presented itself to do so.

I have to report that the ones they have will not fit, looks as if Massoth one is an individual style.

…yet strangely enough, they will ship to non EU countries and happily pay their taxes and import charges. I emailed them asking why, I got a curt ‘we don’t‘ reply.

cheers

I think the understanding is that the UK requirements to register are far more expensive and onerous.
