Well the Presidential train has left town and everyone's gone back to their own business.

Manfred's gone over to Hogwood where he seems a bit uncertain whether to patronise Joe's Barber Shop or not.

Meanwhwile back at Cattewater, Billy Marrick and Mack Perkins having dipped into a few pockets in the recent crowd are looking to leave town one jump ahead of the Sherriff.

Dave and Chuck have resumed their walking vacation; puzzle is, how do they get down from there?

Thanks for the "thumbs up" guys. The figures were acquired the other day and I thought I'd have some fun and then sell them. Now having tried out most of them around the layout, it looks like they'll be staying - all but the President and Mrs O who are off to a new life elsewhere. The only one I have slight doubts about is Billy Marrick who looks more 'sarf' London to me than mid-western.

Not much time for G scale next week - what little spare time is needed for carpentry work before my HO layout goes to Alton next Saturday.

It's been busy recently, but I got some time on the C&S today, and finished the lettering on one side of the RPO. Still got to do some tidying up - for one thing I ran out of small Gs so the RH lettering reads Express Baggace if you look closely.

Meanwhile, owing to other commitments, very little progress on the layout last month apart from the transfers on the RPO (must get round to doing the far side as well).

Not a good day for the management of the C & S. The Creek Lumber Co, having logged out all the commercial timber on their land to the south of Clydes Creek have moved across to the far side of river to continue operations, which will no longer be served by rail; the train shown in post 392 will now, sadly, be history.

The baseboard had become a bit of a dumping ground lately while the swing section had been left open, so I finally got round to a clean-up, then had to "test run" a few trains to make sure the tracks were all aligned properly. After that I got out some of my last spare parts and got to work. By the time I'm through there should be bodies for a work car, a blind-end caboose and another drover caboose. Pictures as the work progresses, then If there's been any interest in them I'm planning to put them up for sale here - got all the stock I can possibly run already.

Lately I've been dabbling in Sn3 1/2 but I must say it's great to be back in G scale construction, if only for a short while.

I assume that there are adequate services in your schedule to compensate for the loss of those associated with the demised south side Creek Co operations. Or perhaps they will look to use rope worked cross river operations using booms and things?

Sadly the far side of the creek has better road connections so they are looking to go over to truck haulage to get the timber out. Upside is that Eli Thomas has got more stock to use to supplement some of his ageing flat cars, so the CLC cars will see a bit more use on the line.

On a more positive note, work has started on three more "bitza" cars. This one could be a MOW work car, a mine supply car or even a logging caboose. It was intended to start life as a one-balcony 4-wheeled caboose, but I didn't like the way it sat on the chosen chassis, as it looked too European and it went into the future projects box. Now it's out and mounted on a plywood chassis, with the addition of a half-gondola section.

For some reason the button polish I treated the roof with is still tacky and the roof paint may need to be stripped off and the whole thing rubbed down before a re-paint - we shall just have to wait and see how it dries. After that there is the roof-walk to add and other details - still a way to go, yet.

The next project will be a blind-ended caboose, loosely based on a Mexican prototype; ingredients are some LGB/Bachmann caboose and combine parts, plus styrene.
