As well as the LT liveried locos, EOR's own class 31/4 was running.
Trains from North Weald to just short of Epping Station were topped and tailed by either both diesels, or the two steam locos.
EOR hope to build their own platform to the North of Epping Underground station in the future....

Very good, just love the prairie in Lt livery. What station was that with the small tube tunnel vehicle in? EDIT NORTH WIELD MISSED THAT. Certainly looks like the EOR is somewhat short of space, a great pity that the Epping Goods Yard got sold off to build houses on as this would have been a great place for stock storage. May also have been more beneficial for the habitat of Scorpion that lived there.

The tube car was the one I believe used in the relatively recent film the Darkest Hour
The highlight for me was the recreation of an LT Works Train which was the staple work of the Pannier tanks upto June 71 (the end ofLT steam)The first image is from the web and is of the last train in 71 at what is now known as Barbican. The others mine
The other interesting item at the EOR is the Finnish Pacific at Ongar, which at 5’ gauge perhaps represents what might have been if the GERs predecessors had stuck to that gauge and not adopted the Stephensons Standard Gauge ?

Lovely pictures Gizzy/Mizzy. The EOR, is certainly a line with an interesting history. In the early '90's the station house at Ongar had a cafe that did a great English breakfast. I went to one of the EOR gala days a few years back, loved the heritage bus service they ran in conjunction with it for access from Epping LU station. Talking to the signalman on duty at Ongar on the day he suggested that apparently the only thing stopping the EOR developing a 4 rail electric system to run on, like the LU, was the area's regional electricity co's insistence that the EOR would not/could not have the experience to do so. I wonder if that attitude can be changed.
Excuse my pedantry here - The tube stock shown is an example of the later "59 stock" dolled up in a "heritage" livery. Here is its history London Underground 1959 stock, Driving Motor 1031 A near full set was stored near me, until recently, at the old GCR Finmere station. now removed to make way for the HS2 track formation passing through the old site. I was at the LT museums depot in Acton Town a couple of weeks ago. Not only do they have a fully operational set of "1938 stock" but are in the process of restoring, to operational status, a set of the 1938's predecessor the "standard stock" type and the subsurface "Q stock". I can remember seeing that Pannier, with full MOW train in tow, passing Chiswick Park station one morning, in 1971. I was waiting for my train to take me to school. Max

I don't know why, but a class 20 in that livery, just looks 'wrong' to me..
But then I have always lived 'North of Watford' so only very occasionally stray into LT land..

I only saw the pannier and the works train once in pre preservation days. I was at Moor Park station after visiting a friend and I was surprised to hear the sound of steam. I got my camera ready too late to get a decent shot but it's still a bit of nostalgia for me. Not sure of the date but sometime in the late 60's.
