The EOR was originally a Great Eastern line, but later became part of the Central Line. It was electrified until closed by London Transport. An example of '38
tube stock can be seen at North Weald. Note the smaller loading gauge of tube stock compared to the EMU behind it....

Lovely pictures Gizzy/Mizzy. The EOR, is certainly a line with an interesting history. In the early '90's the station house at Ongar had a cafe that did a great English breakfast. I went to one of the EOR gala days a few years back, loved the heritage bus service they ran in conjunction with it for access from Epping LU station. Talking to the signalman on duty at Ongar on the day he suggested that apparently the only thing stopping the EOR developing a 4 rail electric system to run on, like the LU, was the area's regional electricity co's insistence that the EOR would not/could not have the experience to do so. I wonder if that attitude can be changed.
Excuse my pedantry here - The tube stock shown is an example of the later "59 stock" dolled up in a "heritage" livery. Here is its history
London Underground 1959 stock, Driving Motor 1031 A near full set was stored near me, until recently, at the old GCR Finmere station. now removed to make way for the HS2 track formation passing through the old site. I was at the LT museums depot in Acton Town a couple of weeks ago. Not only do they have a fully operational set of "1938 stock" but are in the process of restoring, to operational status, a set of the 1938's predecessor the "standard stock" type and the subsurface "Q stock". I can remember seeing that Pannier, with full MOW train in tow, passing Chiswick Park station one morning, in 1971. I was waiting for my train to take me to school. Max
