LIGHTING CONTROL FOR CARRIAGES

staying alive
Here we go- Yet another daft question from yours truely:-
is a dcc module produced with the following options ?
own address as per loco but only two controlled functions.-no motor control.
1 to control tail lights (either constantly on or flashing)- 0n or off.
2 to control interior lighting through multiplugs connecting string of carriages
(adjustable brightrness of lights would be a bonus)- on or off.
I know that i could possibly rig up something using battery power and that the lights
work when connected to the loco's multipurpose socket, but some of us do things the hard way!
I have looked at what is on the web, but i can't find anything.

Yes, look for "function decoder". I'm @ work so my access is limited :( . Pretty sure Massoth do one, as do most other decoder makers.
[edit] Massoth 8152001 is a light and function decoder. But look at other brands, you may find a cheaper one that does all you need - just be careful about maximum DCC voltage rating. [/edit]

Massoth supply the eMotion 8FL which is a decoder that can provide 8 functions, it was designed to plug in to a specific LGB coach (cant remember the one off hand) but can bu used anywhere.

Massoth also provide a DCC decoder enabled lighting bar.

The Massoth 8FL function decoder can be purchased from me: http://www.gardenrailoutlet.co.uk/p/59/massoth-emotion-8fl-function-decoder
The manual is available here: http://www.massoth.com/dlbereich/datei.php?id=523
The Ligting bar can be purchsed from me: http://www.gardenrailoutlet.co.uk/p/92/massoth-led-lighting-board
The manual is availabel here: http://www.massoth.com/dlbereich/datei.php?id=77

Similar products are available from different manufacturers/suppliers.

The Zimo MX681 does six functions and are available for 25 UKP. They are very small and would be easy to hide in a carriage. Mine drives a large capacitor for the main lights which avoids flicker. However, the TCS FL4 is only 15.25 UKP and also offers a full range of effects on each of four outputs. I have one of these in a rear coach van which has a guard's lamp, freight area lamp and rear flashing lights plus the fourth output for the remainder of the carriage rake.
