LGB SUMMER 2021

Sorry for ressurecting an old thread...

I wonder if LGB will produce the later type too as earlier mentioned??
Just going off images from Zittau in the 80s there seem to be a handful with smooth sided tanks (welded I'm guessing?) but have the origional curved edge on the cab roof.
Is it simply a case of sanding the rivets off and changing the smokebox door on the later Zittau engines such as 99.749?

I guess that will depend on demand for this Model. They have the potential to bring out an updated Vlk as well. I can only really afford one so I am happy with limited choice. A lot of people have asked for smaller engines on this forum. Spreewald 0–6–0 would be welcome as well. Between LGB and Trainline I guess those of us modelling DR are not that badly catered for, though.

Yeah that’s true enough, nice variety of DR models by both!

Wonder if a LYD2 would ever happen, I’ve seen a post (I think on here) of a HF being bashed into one but I think a LYD2 would be a nice addition for feldbahn as well as a variety of lines

For LGB I guess the V10C has taken that slot. LYD2 is a good looking diesel, agreed. Also present in the UK, of course.

Looks good to me. It is the pre–war ‘alt‘ style with water heater on the smokebox. Definitely top of my wish list. I really like the Vik which I have already although the wheels on that look a little large to me.
i think it will be the end of the Rhb on my line. Anyone in the market for a GE4/4 lll and a few coaches including an Arosa driving trailer let me know....

I agree about painting wheel rims. Makes a huge difference, on metal rimmed stock too.
Hallo Simon
I should be interested in your RhB Ge 4\4 III. Let me know please.

Inspired by this thread, (and the knowledge that I've got an agreed sale on my UK property:)) I started thinking about one of these beauties. It would be my first purchase of a new loco for quite a while. Would be, but from where? the usual German retailers don't have them in stock. And you know, more widely, there really isn't much about, if you want to buy a new LGB loco. Even on eBay, supply looks really sparse. I tried looking for web discussions about short supply of new locos but found nothing, however I would not be able to effectively search German language comments on any such issue, which is probably where we'd find the most informed comments. Of course it could be the worldwide semi-conductor shortage; but I have so far not read anything concrete to connect it.

Anybody have any ideas?

it’s not out yet, due early next year now (I hope), I have mine on order from Kent garden railways but info as to exactly when its due is unknown.

The LGB delivery dates list on their website says December but also that it is sold out. It was listed on the usual German shop sites but has disappeared as it sold out on pre–order. Clearly a very popular choice by LGB. Glad I pre–ordered one.

What I find a bit disconcerting on their website is how few locos are actually available (and in the model shops too). I haven't looked to buy new for a while, but I definitely don't remember it being like this. But I guess our locos all have semi-conductors - or would have, if Marklin could get their hands on them.

John, you are absolutely right - we talk here about two totally different locos. Have a look on the technical data:

Gauge 750 mm Spurweite 1000 mm (Meterspur)

It might be interesting for some of you - there was also a SUPER variant of the VII K built in 1941 for the Rhodope Railway (just 5 locos). Quite impressive track - 3% grades with spiral tunnels etc around Avramovo.
Chrzanow (Poland) build another 10 locos with small wind deflectors.

Please compare the technical details - boiler pressure, speed, water, coal and tractive effort are higher than on a VII K

BDŽ- 600.76 VII K (99.73–76 old) 99.72 (Harzbulle)

Have a nice day!

(sorry - the list looks a bit ugly - does anybody know how to insert a formattet list/overview?)

Andreas

Thanks very much. Interesting information. The Youtube video is excellent too. I think smoke deflectors suit a Viik.

The LGB Model must be close to release.

Happy New Year

Simon

Today I received an email from my favoured German retailer that this loco has been released and they will hold onto "my" loco for but five days awaiting payment. Needless to say I promptly paid. I suspect anyone hoping to buy one who hasn't got it on pre order may be disappointed. Marklin's marketing philosophy is rather different to that of the old Lehmann LGB.

I have had the same notification and am in the process of paying. I think the whole release has been preordered. Seen one running on YouTube. Looks excellent.

Hope delivery and import goes smoothly.
