Going back a few years my dad had all his track sitting on a grey "foam" ballast, I myself used to say it looked awful and he in the end "recycled" it into the bin as it was not easy to use he now tells me... Now i regret is haste !as I think it might fit well on an indoor section of my new railway build toes with some fake grass..
