Ouch …. Well lesson learnt to check the track before doing any running.
My brother is checking it over but Gizzy I feel you are right.
But as the whole thing transformer MTS and controller cost me £100 to start my DCC adventure I guess it’s not so sad.
That said I can’t see a 55005p available so any tips would be fab.

Who is a lovely chap and very supportive. So it may be heading to time to take that giant step into a real control system.
I was hoping to get running the full loop with the old LGB to teach me and test the layout before a big cost.
So I either find a replacement or consider which used control to go to next?
Or go the giant step. But which way ?
It’s no small choice at £1250 to start… I’m not posh only running two locos as it stands but I do love it.

Whatever you think of getting do not think about the Marklin CS3, tis a heap of garbage IMHO.

You are 'buying in' to one manufacturer's kit, with the CS3.

Much of the 'anti' is due to it being very different to what we all thought was the norm, from LGB / Massoth.
The early iterations of the CS and firmware in the decoders, did have its problems..

It’s a no for me.
I have x2 locos and x4 points as it stands … would love to be able to send a train around x4 then it stops at the station
Waits while the frieight leaves does the same and stops. Then off we go again
So some automation would be great
But it’s not massive?
Unless I’m an idiot ( which is very possible )

Automation of some sort os available with Massoth DCC though I have never tried it, however with analogue and LGB EPL equipment (not DCC) what you describe is entirely possible, though likely only one circuit. What you are looking for is very possible though with Computerised equipment and some on here have written about their experiences in the past.

I migrated from MTS 2 to Maerklin CS2 a number of years ago. With moving to new equipment there is a learning curve to be undertaken. I still use the CS2 on a regular basis although perhaps it is time to upgrade to a CS3. I have been holding out because there is a possibility of a new CS4 to be released in the not too distant future (?) However the CS2 continues to function. as expected. For me the advantage of the CS2 is that it recognises Maerklin MFX decoders straightaway and that coupled with the visual display means that I never have to remember the decoder address. Programming is no more complex than say with the MTS 2 and I have not had any problems programming non Maerklin decoders with the exception of the early LGB 55020 decoders. I suppose after all its horses for courses!
