LGB New Items 2018 Brochure

Hmmm, an interesting selection - thankfully I don't "do" Swiss, otherwise I'd be in for an expensive year.... as it is, there are only a couple of items in the brochure that are really of any interest to me as a predominantly German/Austrian collector.

Anyone else think that it would be nice to actually see a Stainz issued with an MFX decoder and full sound?

Jon.

Apart from the SG Transporter 'roll cars' and the RhB snowplough mentioned, most of it seems to be repaints of existing/older products.

I guess the Christmas stuff might sell well in the US but I can't see anyone buying the LGB anniversary liveried locos and wagons, except perhaps the RhB Ge 4/4 loco....

Ah of course!

That was a Kiss model previously wasn't it?

Probably above my pay grade though....

I was surprised at the amount of "50th Anniversary" branded product - at the expense of more prototypical offerings.

The RhB G4/5 2-8-0 and coaches look suspiciously like the Brawa products of a decade back.

However, overall I thought it was a somewhat underwhelming choice of products.

Both KISS and Brawa made them, though the Brawa one was plagued with problems (necessitating a motor change) and is reputedly very fragile .
It was Brawa's one and only foray into G (the loco and coaches for it) and they've never done it again.

Surprised we didn’t see a 2095 as its featured on the side of the box car, only item that hasn’t been rereleased in the last few years since Märklin took over.

Now I reckon that would be a popular item!

I've seen quite a few requests for these on the forum....

Interesting regarding the RhB 2-8-0. I actually bought one of the original Brawa releases together with the coaches. My loco was returned to be remotored and, to this day, it occasionally makes an appearance on the EG&SNNR. As was pointed out, the model is quite fragile!!

What is interesting is that LGB have obviously got hold of the Brawa mouldings particularly those of the coaches. Looking at the current LGB specifications the new coaches have sprung buffers and interior lights none of which appeared on the older LGB versions of these coaches but did appear on the Brawa coaches I bought many years ago. The roof ventilators and brake rigging on the new LGB coaches are the same as that on the Brawa coaches.

The worrying thing regarding the loco is that the new LGB release is numbered No. 106....... the original Brawa release was numbered No.108............ LGB have obviously thought about this....... I shouldn't have changed my car a couple of months ago.......

The coaches shown above by Train-Line, not Brawa.

All ways thought it was a pretty loco - good job I mange to stick to German.

......and, to make things worse, it looks as though the new LGB release is modelled in the original Era 1 black livery whereas the original Brawa release was the current Era preserved livery with a green cab and tender......:(

Some interesting models. I am looking forward to purchasing the Toy train set, the DR Roller car set and possibly the 995015.

I have to say that I think that 2018 looks like being a memorable one for Maerklin. I feel that they have produced a great program with a few very pleasant surprises. I can even justify the Snow Plough as I want one! The Rollwagens will probably be a must have item as well, but 2 sets as I really need 3. Then there will be the GE4/5 I wonder if it really is the Kiss moulds or a new build? However the Gold Stainz I think looks superb as do the Wagons that go with it, not my cup of Tea but the Stainz collectors have that and another to go for. Better start building some more Shelves guys.
