Hello

Dose anyone know of and lgb body kit , somthing to make a stainz look more british? or similar lgb chassie or is it down to be scratch built?

Jim

GRS www.grsuk.com do sell some body kits which can be built onto LGB chassis. Most of those are to be built on the toytrain Otto chassis, but the Single Fairlie is designed to be built on the Stainz chassis. I guess it might well be possible to fit some of their other body kits onto a Stainz chassis too. That would be worth checking with them.
On the website click

or
Catalogue > Narrow Gauge Electric Locomotives > Freelance Industrial Locomotive Kits

It is worth saying that whilst the kits can be made into excellent models, they are not like air fix models and require a good amount of work from the modeller. The instructions also leave quite a bit to be desired. However I don't know of any other off the shelf solution.

I'm sure it would also be possible to do a bit of work on the stains itself to make it look more British...

Maybe contact Botchmann and see if they'll sell you a Percy shell? Just eliminate the face.

Regarding Bachmanns Thomas and Percy. There is a source their in England that sells replacement smoke box doors. I did my own bash to normalize the two including adding backheads. Once done they look very good for British profile engines but they really need to be repainted. Those show colors are really psychodelic.

Thanks il give it a look , ive built models for years now so adapting is somthin im good at , my last big build was a tamiya tiger

Now that's daunting, a tiger with a Beatrix Potter background :rolf:
The paint job on the soldiers is top notch

Not sure if this is of interest but I've built a couple of the GRS kit locos and my onw scatchbuild on Otto type ToyTrain chassis. Both these GRS kits are not scale models of originals but are based on similar prototypes:

And finally my scratch-build of a Fowler-type diesel on a Toytrain chassis:

Again - here's a blow-by-blow account of how I did it - http://riksrailway.blogspot.com/2011/04/how-i-converted-playmobil-diesel-into.html < Link To http://riksrailway.blogsp...mobil-diesel-into.html

I'm certainly not holding myself up as an expert but hope my amateurish efforts will help guide someone through the process so they know what's involved before they commit themselves.

Hope that helps
