Yes, I had wondered that..... with a collectable loco of that value you really would think that any owner would preserve everything pretty carefully? Of course, we don't know how many previous owners it has been through. Maybe it was originally in a display cabinet and they didn't have the room to keep the packaging, but that's odd.
Hope it wasn't stolen from somewhere at any point....?
Actually, without getting mine out and checking, I don't know if the individual serial number is actually on the model itself anywhere, or just on the original wooden case?
My Accucraft/MBV Schug locos are numbered both on the red box and on a sticker under the actual loco... my two Dinglers should have serial numbers, but they originate from a slightly "grey source" and are thus not part of the certified 100-item run.....
