Thank you for all the suggestions guys.
Just to clear up the point re having DCC and DC connected, I use a track contact to operate a timer which changes the DCC voltage to DC once the whole train is within a isolated track section. this ensures that only one or other of the supplies is connected to the track at any time and only when the problem of bridging the gap between sections has passed.
To answer the question of why I do not do this pause using DCC, I use Stellverk Easy to control my railway automatically using schedule control. I have three separate trains running around with five block sections keeping them apart.
Two of the block sections are at stations.
I wanted to have two passinger trains stopping at the stations but my railway maintenance train not stopping. Since I run the passinger trains slightly faster than the maintenance train by introducing the adjustable pause in my workshop I can fine tune to achieve this.
I previously simple remove the DCC with the timer but I have now built a web camera into one of the engines powered via the DCC and I don't want to loose the feed to the camera every time it pauses. The DCC to DC method keeps the camera powered and I get continues video.
Back to my original problem, I have tried turning the analogue starting voltage full up but since my DC is derived from a bridge rectifier and capacitor from the DCC supply it is at around 21 volts and even a full starting voltage setting is not high enough. I will try reducing the DC voltage via a buck converter and see if I can get it to idle when stopped.
If you enter Garden Railway on YouTube and click on Lighthouse Gorseback and Bride Railway you can see it running, when completed there will be 6 trains running on two separate loops with one common track section, to add fun the trains will be running in opposite directions on the common section. The software works in simulation should find out if it works in reality around September.
I open the railway to visitors on Saturdays from May to end August and have a regular coach calling during the summer months, all monies donated go to our islands children's hospice.
Thanks again for the suggestions/comments it's nice to stimulate discussion.
