Neither idle nor a marvel

This is the DR green version of the red Harz baggage van LGB 40520 / 42520 / 42523
I could get a red one and repaint but I'd rather get an original, boxed preferably.
Thanks for any information or leads.

I should have added that a google search shows grootspoor have one but if you go their site it doesn't exist. But I'll check with Mr van hoof on Wednesday.
I'll look at the ebay.de site, thanks Jon

Hmm, so the google result for Grootspoor could be an archived page from some while ago.... but the Austrian one does appear to be current? Postage is the usual quite reasonable figure from Austria or Germany, and the seller seems to be an established business and takes Paypal. The price is perhaps just a little on the high side, but not out of the way - and if they are hard to come by, and you really want it....?

Oh, and it has metal wheels - not sure if they are standard or added, if the latter then that would explain the slightly higher price.

Jon.

Thanks Jon. Yes the one on ebay.de is for real but more than I want to pay for a used model, even with metal wheels. I'll wait a bit and see what else comes along.

Yes indeed Alan I am looking at the bogie post van as an alternative which would be more prototypical for my layout. They do look very nice.

The grootspoor one was a google cache error as Jon surmised.
I found a good second-hand red one 42520 for £50 from Kent Garden Railways.
Any suggestions for spray paint to match DR green?
Thanks, Dave

Paint, plus decals!. I would wait and buy the one you want.

Too late, already bought! I've always wanted to have a go at some simple customisation. Even with the cost of paint and decals it will still be a lot less than any green one I have seen for sale.

Hi
Just checked my stock of units I no longer need and I have ! Unit of 32710 which is green and was issued for some commemorative occasion by LGB.
I haVe had it for several years as part of. Job lot. It is in good condition showing little wear. .it is a baggage / passenger car similar to the red version which is quite common
It has double bogies. If this is of interest I can take photos over the weekend. I have the original box.
Let me know.
Regards

Thanks David. One of the reasons I am reluctant to go for the bogie vans like this or the ones mentioned by Alan (stockers) earlier is the length, and if I did I would go for the Saxony ones. I mainly use my indoor layout which is all R1 and I have an unwritten rule of maximum length of vehicle of 450mm otherwise the overhang is too great to my eye, and these are all 500mm. So thanks again but not this time.

Do you wish to sell 32710 as I am very interested as I currently have a rake of the matching 31730 coaches. They were not a commemorative issue but a special made for one of Germanys Retail Chains. The 2 axle baggage was made as a sonder modell and sold worldwide. yours meiningen8 aka David Miller

Red one arrived today. As advertised it had unusual Accucraft couplers fitted, which I will not be keeping, and Accucraft 30mm metal wheels which I will. Unfortunately the LGB coupler mounts had been removed and a hole cut where the original narrow gauge central buffer was. The undercarriage is the same size as an unwanted 2 axle flat wagon I no longer need so a bit of part swapping required before I start the paint job, if I can bring myself to do it
I will be giving the Accucraft couplers away to whoever wants them.
