lgb 12010 switch motor

does anyone where I could get hold of the moveable switch in LGB point/switch motor
Do you mean the LGB EPL supplementary switch ref 12070?

I note that this is a type 2 and not sure what the difference is between this and a type 1 ref 12030. Anyone any ideas? This search found a supplier in USA, but at least you know the cat no’s to try GRS, Kent Garden Railways, Topslots etc.

Electrically and functionally they are identical. The 12070 is a bit shorter than the 12030.

The 12030 one uses a pair of toggle switches which are driven by the actuating bar

The 12070 uses a pair of micro-switches, also driven by the actuating bar.

Yes they do look quite different, for my auto line I have the older 12030’s cos that is the era I come from. No doubting that both will be equally effective being LGB.

Coincidentally I bagged a couple of used ones on a Facebook group yesterday, but in checking I was paying a reasonable amount, I found the best price (new and having added p&p) was actually on Amazon UK [LGB12070 on Amazon]. I always check Amazon as sometimes they can deliver a European sourced item for a competitive sterling price and helpfully take care of all that post-Brexit nonsense.

Thanks for yr input
What I require is the arm that goes in and out of the point motor to move the blades
lgb12010.jpgThe component on the right? Ah, that's very different to what we had assumed! Unfortunately I've managed to fix the one duff motor I had, otherwise you could have had that one, for the part. Maybe someone else has one?

Hm good luck with that, I got some complete motors from a railway I demolished that had been unused for 4 or 5 years. Some of the motors had ants nests in all except 2 in a shed were in poor non working order. All were restored to working order with some TLC. But you may get lucky with the part you need, I sincerely hope so.

if they'll send it to you post-brexit
Also from Champex Linden

Ralff

As ever, if you have any success getting Modell-land to send anything to the UK, or getting Champex Linden to over-ride their minimum order (and excessive postage) to the UK, let us all know, so we can get a few bits from them too!

Cheers

I have just checked...and I do not have any...sorry.

I was looking for EPL 12010 switch drives and came across this. Has anyone seen one of these in person ?

Looks like it has built it rail power switching.
Not sure where you get that idea from, looks more like they have just added a couple of wires to remove the dodgy screw wired connection that can fail over the years. Though not entirely sure the 2 wires with connection and lengthening required would be much better unless dealt with properly with soldered and heat shrink connections.

Those wires are from the screw terminals which are inside the unit.
Pictures 4 in the listing, shows the connections for frog switching..

I am lmpressed by the thought which has gone into keeping water out of it.
But it uses a N10 (or N20) gear-motor, and I wonder about their longevity in a British climate?

I will have to educate myself on the nomenclature of motor designation. But for expedience, would you give me a hint ?

Dan,
Do a web-search for N20 gear motor..

These are available in many different motor-voltages, gear-ratios, and final-drive arrangements..

Many people use them for smaller gauge loco's, or even road vehicles.
