Last month Ivor wasn,t feeling well. Jones the steam took him to the repair shop where a faulty motor commutator was diagnosed. The chassis is a Bachmann gandy dancer, so no chance of getting a spare motor.
After a search on a well known auction site a suitable replacement was obtained. Judicious use of scrap plasticard allowed replacement to be fitted. How long the motor will last is unknown, but I have a spare as well. After a bit of running in he runs pretty well.
Original on left. Replacement on right. Just over 3 quid for 2 motors arrived in less than a week.
Test run on bench. Success.
Final test on track.
