Neat, a suggestion to go with some buildings, an easy and cheap way to add landscape features to a gravel bed layout is to get your hands on some large and small rocks, They can be piled up to create hill features that buildings and track can be interspaced into Japanese Zen Garden style. On my outdoor layout I used various river rocks from a local construction site, just piled them in my old truck, and used them to landscape our front yard, a side benefit was that I had a good selection to add to the layout to make mini-mountains that look real because, well, they are real rocks.
