i have the grey zillertal-2070
the tiny piston on top of the main piston has broken-
need the left side (if you were to look from the back of the loco towards the front)
i appeal for a new side assembly if anyone has-seems to be all riveted so i need the entire thing -ie drive rod and exccentric, pistons
i believe
-happy to send money too

Steve the design of these parts changed a number of times so it may be best to post a photo of yours. Having said that if it is the plastic type these often break so it might be a hard job finding a spare unless you want to get one at a cost from German ebay. The metal type last longer so may be easier to find.

I got my replacement from Warenreich Toys. Try this link on ebay and go to his shop.
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/warenreich-toys
Don't forget to give the model number and which side you need when you order.
Postage is high but he is happy to give you several weeks to build-up a shopping list which helps to reduce the unit cost for p/p.
EDIT
I have just tried the site and it appears to be closed at least, there is nothing on offer.
What has happened to Herr Warenreich? He had an enormous stock of spares.:crying:

Warrenreich seems to have stopped dealing in LGB bits now try Warenburg.de

Thanks Phil
I thought that other site looked unfamiliar.
That reminds me, I need a new axle for my feldbahn loco, the gear is knackered.

Keith, I've recently got a random mix of drive axels from Warenburg and might have one which you can have for cost and a share of postage.

Hi Steve
Thanks.
The loco is 20140 the O&K steamer.
It has two slightly differing axles, the worn one has white gears and the other black but looking at the Warenreich site just now it may be that they are interchangeable and one has already been replaced.
Keith

Glad to be of help

keith as a heads up-be aware that the rear axle on the FRR steamers has a longer post to accpet the drive as well as the connecting rod-whereas the front only a post long enough for the connecting rod

the ebay ink has exactly what i need-but it wont let me bid using my ebay account from the US-help!!!
i bid -and the post was about 2-3 euros-
i return to bid again and the post is now 59 euros-what is the deal?

but, these are exactly what i need
in fact hes got all sorts of things
i wish i could read german well enoughto know if he will hold items and combine shipping-theres enough stuff that it might be worth the postal
i hate it when it becomes difficult to execute a plan due to these communication and access hurdles

Steve
Use the Google translator it works well enough to identify what you need. They speak English btw and will contact you in English if there are queries.
Yes he does combine shipping and will hold for 4 weeks I have found.
I am afraid the post is v large for single items but much more manageable if you combine stuff.

OOps Thanks I hadn't thought of that!
I will take the baseplate off and re-check which one I need.

Thanks to stevedenver's timely reminder I have checked the axle, it is the rear one, the one with the longer post to take coupling and con rod. Ideally with a red centre.

I've looked and I've got both types with red centres. I will have to look through my records and see how much they cost me.

Thanks Steve
I have replied to your PM.

update-
i now need both sides!

these little piston things-im sure they are for the exhaust valve in teh steam chest (they are above the regular steam pistons and move in the opposite direction) are apparently quite delicate
and seemingly prone to breakage

i have handled my grey zillertall with great care and never touch the rods or valve assemblies!
I noticed that these things travel at a bit of an angle, ever so slight, into the piston hole, and combined with another rods movement which affects this angle -it seems the angle can become too great and the damnable things aim downward, and are pushed into the hole but cant move because of the angle, and then with the driver movement then get bent and then eventually break at the bend

thanks to one member whos trying to assist me, i might have two assemblies at some time soon-

in the mean time, as one of the things broke flush at the end of the little square portion, i tried a fix, with great success -so far.......
as there was nothing to be lost ......and nothing to glue or attempt a sleeve
and the idea of using a sleeve would require enlarging the hole in the cylinder-(and would act as a splint had the piston had something left protruding-alas not

i tried another approach
i used a dremel and drilled into the square portion where the original 'pin' piston was-, using an identical diameter piece of steel rod to the dirll as well as the oringal pin-
the fit at both ends was suitably tight, and i got between 1/8 and 1/4" drilled into the little block-enough, i hope, for some limited mechanical strength-

from talking with a very knowledgable experienced long time LGB US dealer and LGB fix it guy-dave at watts trains-this is apparently a flaw in the zillertalls, and a very common issue-

what a PITA since you really need the entire valve assembly due to the rivets
has anyone ever removed the rivets?-if so how please-as this would be the next step should i need to fashion an entire metal replacement pison part and attach it
