So,
8122302 or 8124302? - Not that it matters as the Massoth site has a manual for neither that I can find.
But then, a large portion of the 'English' site is still in German, or just not there..

I have the "manual" but simply do not understand itI can't find any relevant manual either. I suggest you send an email to hotline@massoth.de quoting those product numbers that

. It would be helpful if the booklet that came with it had a few step by step examples of how to programme the various outputs (as well as all the CV stuff).

How many speed-steps?
Do you want lights 'on' on an analogue track?
Do you want the front and rear light to be automatically selected by direction?
What do you want controlled by the 'light' key?
What outputs do you want to use, and what F-key would you like to control each?
I think that covers all bases?

Hi PhilP what I want to do is light my D&RG QM caboose. I have installed some micro LED's in both the front and rear set of lights and in the red beacon on the cupola. It would be nice the have the front and rear leds come on when the loco is in motion as well as the cupola led but I would like that to flash. I also want to put a led in the cupola and one in the rear compartment. These I guess I can just use the screw connections.

Hi Graham, firstly let me state clearly that I am not at the level of some of these fine ladies and gents when it comes to DCC programming. I have forgotten a lot of what I learned some years back as DCC was becoming exciting and am returning to the hobby after an 8 year break. I am also operating a Massoth central station with a navigator.
Based on my own meandering experience the easiest and most satisfying way to approach these challenges is to sit down with a glass of something, your programming system and the CV details in the instructions and start playing. You would be surprised at how quickly you will pickup the variables just by programming in the areas you are interested in activating. Flashing for example is dealt with at the top of page 19 and applied to the CV values nominated at the top of the table. Page 4 suggests the A2 and A3 functions are the screw terminals which is what I would start with connecting to whatever it is you want to flash etc.... it is only if you want to add another 5 functions you need to consider the soldered pads.
It does require some application but once you "get it" is really is a lot simpler than it first seems.

Humm...The screw terminals for F2 & F3 are the negative leg for these outputs and the +24v comes from a solder pad on the rear! The two screw terminals are to connect an analogue unit to each output.
Sadly I have damaged the unit by putting track voltage onto the F2 input by mistake. The illustrations are not very clear and it was easy to have the unit the wrong way round...ah well we live and learn.

It sounds like the advice came too late Graham. Apologies if my ramblings took you down that path. I find most of the instructions which come with the DCC gear to be very hard to follow also and usually end up only using the CV tables. I have been fortunate to this point in not blowing anything up myself (at least not on my train set).
