Hi guys, my name is Bill and I’m new to this but I’m wanting to run a track around my garden, so I may be asking questions if I cant find answers in existing threads.
As I said in my first post in Buying/Selling I’m looking for a Class 66 by Aristocraft.
Looking forwards and upwards..!!

Well, I s'pose it is likely to upwards in the Highlands :emo: :emo: :emo:

I mean, we sometimes have problems of gradients here in Norfolk, and that's supposed to be flat :confused::confused:

Welcome, Bill!
As Gizzy mentions in your other thread, if you're looking for a Class 66 then you'll need to be building a big railway with wide curves....

Welcome aboard, there's always plenty of advice, and corny jokes, given on here. Where abouts in the Highlands are you?

Which town north of Inverness? :think:
;):giggle::giggle:

Welcome Bill!

If you get a '66 you may find R3 curves are not really big enough. - I have seen these loco's which will only run through R3 curves in one direction.
If you can see (and especially hear) the loco you are buying running, it is a good idea. - They are all noisy, but you can usually hear if there is a real problem with the motor's/gearboxes.

Thank you for the info Phil, little details like this are invaluable....

Welcome to the mad house, British G can be a bit tricky to source but if you just want a 66 and a few Container Wagons trundling round some big Radius Curves that should be possible. 66’s are also pretty easy to make Battery Powered should that be the route that you take.

Tain, north of Inverness
Ah, I went near there once, more than 45 years ago now, was traveling on my thumb, trying to get to Orkney, to catch a plane to the Faroes where a mate of mine was getting married.

My third lorry, after starting at Hendon at the bottom of the M1, dropped me in Inverness, and I stood by the road in Inverness for a good hour before a passing motorist took me up through Dornoch and Bonar Bridge to Helmsdale. B&B overnight, and then a train to Thurso - ferry to Stromness where I met up with some pals who were flying all the way (I was poor) then we flew out of Orkney the following morning.
