H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

I'll do my best to keep the pictures coming Shawn. It's a tough ask mind

Managed a brief run before tea last Saturday, no time to raise steam but time for a spot of battery power. LGB O&K and Binnie skip train.

I'd really like to weather the loco but SWMBO likes it shiny and it is her loco after all. ;)

But one day! Gingerbread, our cat, likes trains too. (She's camouflaged above the tunnel).

and you know she must be... nicely done john..as always a joy to behold

It was also time to give the Round Robin Boxcar a final run before it heads of to Gav's and continues the NZ leg of it's journey.

We've enjoyed hosting it

Yep battery power Paul. 3xAA's in each of the back 4 skips, charging socket and on/off switch in the second skip with a Revolution receiver in the first skip. Battery power to both this loco and little Jonny has made them so much more operator friendly compare to DC track powered.

Very nice John. Spring looks well and truly sprung down there.

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

We have a new steamie :) An Accucraft Plantation loco.

Here having it's acceptance testing on rollers.

It will get fitted with radio control in short order but pleased to report it's first steaming was without major issue. Now can I get home early enough to day for a test with a train in tow….hope so ;)

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Looks good John.

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

That plantation loco looks good John. Look forward to hearing how it runs.

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

A lovely warm evening and I was in a hurry to raise steam. Hmm next time clear the tunnel cobwebs first :-\

I hope this tunnel is clear ;)
IMG_0605.JPG

Looks like all clear of cobwebs as Kaitaki passes the log loading siding at Punga Cliffs

I think the fireman just concentrated on his job throughout and keep a good level of water in the gauge.

Ah, a nasty tunnel web spider there. :D

I know, hat, coat, door!

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Great - love the cab side shot. :)

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

I've been beavering away of late fitting RC into the Plantation loco, now known as Ngahere.

Was a bit of a job but got there in the end.

Today was it's first test under RC.

Didn't spot you around here!! :D :D ;D

Really great photos as usual and another fine loco is added to your stable!

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Thanks Mike ;)

Ngahere will get a few minor changes, not as severe as Kaitaki, but at least a dulling down of the shiny paint will be needed.

But for now I'm really happy how well it steams under RC with the addition of The Train Department aftermarket fine adjustment gas and regulator vlaves.

Though I feel much more testing is needed!

lovely
especially seeing the dappled sunlight
its persisting down, here

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Thanks Paul and Paul.
I think the fleet is as big as the budget will allow for now. Getting a sawmill built over summer and then filling the gaps in the rolling stock fleet are next. So many plans, so little time ::)

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Excellent as usual John.

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

It's not all steamies though. Some days the mood suits the other end of the complexity scale - IP Engineering battery power. ;)
The little Simplex is still one of my favourites :)

And I'm well amused ;D
