I've just got one of these kits partially made off ebay but know nothing about the loco. A few of the instruction pages are included but not all and I've worked out that it is intended to fit an LGB Corpet Louvet chassis. Doese any one know what the prototype is and what railway it ran on? Is it G or 16mm scale?

Had a quick "google " around, the only St Vincents I could find reference to were the G.W.R. Saint class one or the class 50. Sounds interesting !

I will try to get some photos later.

It appears quite stong and although intended to be an electric model i though that it might be able to be used for live steam. If gas fired however a stronger smoke box and brass chimney saddle would be required.

Here is a scan of the relevant bit of the GRS 1997 catalogue. I hope it is legible but it gives no prototype information. It can be used with a Corpet or Spreewald chassis.

It does say that they were planning to release a live steam version in 1998 but that never appeared AFAIK.

edit: I have just checked the 2000 catalogue and this loco was no longer listed.

Philip, thanks for the catalogue scan, do you know if it is a freelance model or a model of a real prototype?

It does look like it was intended for a live steam model as it lacks fine detail you would expect on an electric loco.

Sorry Steve, I can't help you there...my knowledge of real railways could be written on a postage stamp with room to spare...
