I was over at Glendale yesterday for a few bits n bobs and Caroline was saying that Brian was laid up rather poorly,so just a Get well soon matey,;);););););)

I'll send my better half over to see him!

AFAIK, she is the only person ever to have been allowed inside his shed....

Are we talking Brians Service Shed or the one in the Layout?

The service shed JD?

I know she's a petit lady, but she ain't G scale....

Aha so Brian was being a bad boy then. I managed to be allowed inside when he was upgrading my Massoth Central Station. Let us hope that he is able to entice ladies in there again in quick order!

I did not see an announcement anywhere.... was surprised, since there are references to them as recently as April.
I think they announced it quite a long time ago. They were wanting to sell the business, but their business premises was part of the house (as has been the case with a number of G scale traders in this country (which includes Scotland still) so whoever bought the business would really be buying the stock and the goodwill.

A few years ago, Brandbright were in the same situation. They found a buyer, but the new owner is not an engineer like the original owner, so new Brandbright products are going to be few and far bewteen.

Closure / Retirement of Glendale has been a not very well kept secret for some time now. Sadly I will not be able to enjoy Brian’s unique style of retail therapy, Caroline’s super Tea and Coffee and a good second hand bargain or two. A trip to Deeping was indeed a great way to spend a day as the place is a real gem with lovely Riverside Walks and a good few nice pubs. Also the Bus from Peterborough is by Delaine, one of the Countries smartest liveried and well run Bus Companies. The busses are always clean and tidy both inside and out plus the Drivers are very polite and generally careful Drivers. Not something that could be said about the typical London Bus Driver, though there are some good ones. Many London Drivers appear to have graduated from the Golf GTI School of motoring.

Farewell Glendale, see you both at a Garden Event soon I hope.

All the best wishes for them on their retirement!
I was given a couple of the new Brandbright hoppers recently, Ivery not started them yet, but they look the business, if a little complicated to assemble

I visited them on the day of the 16mm Show at Peterborough to collect a new wagon. The stock had been run down considerably since my previous visit.

Best wishes for their retirement....

All the best for their retirement, great shop and service, always a warm welcome and first name terms,I for one never had a bad deal from them,

Good luck to them both:););)

Brian and Caroline were a very nice couple and excellent supporters of G scale. I only had dealings over the 'phone or by email with them, but, as Riograndad says, always a warm welcome, first name terms and excellent service. May they have a long and enjoyable retirement.
