The first one wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding, despite it's large appearance. Based on a couple of those cheapy battery trains that the likes of Tesco and Smyths toys stock around the festive season. I kit-bashed one into a boxcab diesel a few years back. Needed a bit of lead to enable to pull three LGB 4 wheeled coaches. You've also gotta strike the right balance between added weight and what the mechanism and gearing is capable of taking. You'll soon know when hear the grinding. For my money, not worth the effort.
The second on the other hand at least uses LGB running gear. Proportionately it looks all wrong, but nothing that a creative bashing with pipe, plasticard and bits from the spares box couldn't put right. Sounds like I'm talking myself into it
