Ok wilst noting the above.
The reason I started the thread was that I bought two items, the first appeared Ok then the second on the problems started.
My bank suspected a fraud and blocked the payment, but here is the important bit, they did not inform me, which a later conversation after a few re tries on my part, the lack of contact came to light. Because of my repeated attempts to pay and the bank blocking them, my internet banking was suspended, and they would not reopen it until they sent me a code in the post, however long that would take these days. It's all done and back up and running now.
So with the now fraud alarm ringing in my ear, I did a search on the images of the Ebay sellers pictures, and I found the same pictures on another website, which lent credence to the potential fraud.
So tried to contact the seller through Ebay and nothing, and the page that had various LGB items with long end dates listed was now a shadow of it's former self with no LGB.
Then where there was no tracking there suddenly was and it was on it's way here, but then all of a sudden it wasn't, no reason given, it was going to a parcelshop, but I did not know the postcode, without which I could not collect it. Again Ebay contact the seller and although I did get a reply eventually, saying it had gone to a parcelshop I had to press again for the postcode. In the meantime I had found it the hard way by searching all the parcelshop postcodes in my area, I hit lucky on the 8th try.
I eventually got the postcode from the seller after I had actually collected the coach. I went on expecting to be told there was no parcel, and was given it, and that was a farce, talk about security, I could have been anyone, no I.D. check, just asked did they have a parcel for me, gave my name and was given it.

Now as for the damage, I accept that can happen, and as I said, it was now't that a dab of glue didn't sort out.

Now you may call me or point out the folly of my ways, but whilst it wasn't a scam/fraud, it was well and truly looking like it, up to the moment I opened the box.

I think this thread has run it's course and therefor could a Mod lock it please.

Very worthwhile words @maxi-model , I guess all of us have had horror stories. My horror was an LGB Tram bought in earlier Ebay days that got attempted delivery by PO at the beginning of a holiday. When I returned was well past the 2 weeks (then) time kept at depot ending up in Northern Ireland presumably ‘not claimed’ department. Much too ing and frooing of correspondence decided it was lost. This before current Ebay protection service. Quite a few months later a postie rang my door bell with the big package happy days. Currently my main source of buying is TT120 which if ordered from Hornby during working hours tends to land on my doorstep next day with lots of advice of delivery arrangements by Hornby and Courier, no complaints about that service at all.

I remember going to something called a "shop" and being able to buy something that "shop" sold and take it home. Unfortunately with theses days of internet selling, even what I thought was a "shop", was, in actual fact, just a place with people employed to say "go to the website". How I miss "shops"
I agree Paul. I miss the social experience of getting out and about and and chatting to those working in the shops and the other customers with similar interests. That and being able to get "hands on" with the products to satisfy myself of their suitability and quality. Heck, the first 10 years of my working life was spent on the shop floor at Harrods, that and carefully "curating" the product ranges in my department(s). You get to meet some interesting types there too. However I find it so much easier to get exactly what I want/need in the current broadband/website dominated retail environment. But it is all a bit cold. Only last night Googled "link & pin coupler" for a project - Tenarren have 4 different types, including a perfect US style one. Ordered an opted for 2nd class RM. The world keeps on turning. Max

P.S. Irony time. Just got interrupted scribbling this by yet another scam "faudulent use of card" call. I'll wait for the text from my bank.

I had an interesting twist on home delivery this week. I had ordered some items from Playmobil and specified home delivery rather than collection from a pick-up point. Obviously, this idea was inconvenient to UPS as I had a text from them suggesting that I "skip waiting at home" by redirecting the parcel to a pick-up point at a local CostCutter, a round trip of 3 miles. OK, not a great distance, but not so convenient when you add in parking at the other end and possibly queueing in the shop, plus the time involved driving there and back. (Google suggested a rather optimistic 6 minutes each way for a journey involving joining at two major road junctions with a main A road and a set of traffic lights at another main junction, so 12 minutes there and back.

The only shops I was interested in were toy shops - we had a good one in Kingston that was actually a very large, Edwardian house, where the entrance floor, which formed the main part of the shop, was reached by a wide, external, stone staircase.

That's where I used to by my Lone Star Trebl-0-Lectric >:)>:)
