The LGB was given a special contract to haul a Sumpter Valley Mallet Steam loco, from the WBR to the EM&BHR this weekend.

V51/52 were dispatched light engine to Nottingham for this pestigious task....

The Mallet on final acceptance testing before transfer to the EM&BHR....

Whilst in Notts, V51/52 took charge of a freight roster, demonstrating the versatillity of this class of loco to the CEO of the WBR....

Although designed for lightweight branch line duties, the V51/52 ability to a work mainline freight roster clearly impressed Lord Dragon....

V51/52 make ready to haul Sumpter Valley back to Suffolk. The Mallet will then proceed to the EM&BHR under its own steam, hauling a consist of gravel wagons....

Sumpter valley crosses 'Biffins' Bridges' for the final time, before its new career hauling heavy freight on the EM&BHR in North Essex....

Many thanks to Lord and Lady Dragon for their hospitality.

Thanks Fred and Barbara for a lovely afternoon.

Testing of the new loco has been postponed here on the EM&BHR due to an injury  to the driver. Whilst waiting, an upgrade to the locos electrics will take place:thumbup:
