Fitting new traction tyres to my yellow Playmobil diesel.

However, unfortunately, these have arrived and they're not what I expected. I've received rings with rounded edges everywhere, whereas I expected something more like a rubber band in profile. Has anyone else experienced this? They claim to be 30803460 parts, but I really would have expected a different profile. Once fitted to a locomotive, these sit too large, it rocks, and easily falls off the track on curves.
Not what I would expect, at all..

Could you post a photo?

Have a look at this post, and the rest of the thread:

Thanks. I would say that the rings I've got (pictured) are a good match for the post linked to, for this older style locomotive. But for the newer 5258 set that I've got, I'm pretty sure the traction tyres need to be flatter, more like a classic elastic band. I assume these have different numbers, but aren't labeled up very clearly at Playmobil's office.

I phoned back today and they said that the style I want they can't get hold, so send these back for a refund.

My understanding is that for the battery powered Playmobil, the same traction tyre was used.

What is "the" battery powered Playmobil? There have been multiple different sets produced, of different generations.
Mike, I think you will find the wheels are all of a similar size.

If you click on my name at the head of this post, you can send me a direct/personal message.
I can send you a tyre to try for yourself.

Was it like this?
If so you should flatten when put in place.

Playmobil made some track powered locos and battery powered locos, I cannot give any details on the track powered, but the two battery powered are the 4010 PM cargo, and 5258 Yellow diesel.
Jimmy, PM made battery powered locomotives/railcars with both plastic and metal driving wheeled powered chassis I think this is where the confusion arrises with each type needing different traction tyres by the look of things.

I ran my 5258 shunter on a train today, and it was a bit jerky at certain spots on the line. On returning to the train storage shed, I discovered a broken traction tire beside the track . I turned the loco over: One tire is indeed missing and the other looks like it's about to fall apart too.
Sadly, I am familiar with Playmobil's you're-sh*t-out-of-luck policy with regard to parts for discontinued models so I didn't expect to find anything in an online search, but I came across this thread in passing .
Do I understand that Stainz tires will fit?
