Last year I bought a cheap Massoth chip from Germany, after the origional chip in No 13 blew. It's been now't bother since it was installed, it was in fact taken out and taken away to be re programmed at one point. But it's been a case of when rather than if it would play up and it did so again last week the noise from it indicative of a short somewhere. So today a replacement was installed as well as a general search for the just incase short within the wiring, so it's been a total strip and rebuild...
...supervisor...
...it's an older 3 to 4 pin conversion, with extra added pickups, so whilst I am confident that it's all good, every wire was checked and tested...

...the only exceptions were the operating pantographs and the auto uncouplers as they continued to work via their function chips, even when the drive, lights and sound were playing up...
...not fully back together, needs the rods reattatched, but it's running better and the sound quality has improved, so I am guessing my assumption as to the chip was well founded. Moral of the tale buy cheap, buy twice, I guess.
