'DR' gondolas

Those with long memories may rember that I built these many years ago (posted on the MAD Forum), but alas, I lost interest and did not complete them. A burst of weekend energy and interest and some paint and these old projects are finally nearing completion. Still to matte clear coat and fit end steps to the end sills. Stickers are cut from very old LGB tanker sticker sheets.

These are loosely based on early 'DR' gondolas and are built using LGB circus cage waggons, suitably butchered. The loads were made by Korber around thirty years ago and were designed for the various open LGB waggons available at the time (LGB #4020/4021/4041 and #4061).

Excellent! if you put a team of horses in front of the old boy sitting on top you could represent some shunting!!

Paul,
an example of early horsepower. The top gondola now has a seat as well. The prototype seat was collapsible/removable and fitted over the top edge of the endwall, extending back into the load area of the car.

Tim - great looking models!

Paul - a lot of "engine" drivers!
