The next step is a dirty diesel to pull the train, maybe a Schoema or the 0-6-0 industrial loco. I would consider the Piko but overhangs and scale might pose a problem. Mel, could I trouble you to put up a photo with the train behind the Piko shunter?

OK mate. Give us a couple of mins.

Oh BTW, the cold doesn't seem to have as much effect on airbrushing matt paint as it would if you were painting something in a smart, high gloss finish using aerosols. All to do with the fluidity of the paint and the time it takes to dry I'd imagine? It was certainly pretty taiters when I weathered the crane and tool van.

Thanks Steve and Giz. The paint was Humbrol matt 154 Giz. It's still not as orangey as the LGB original, but I was going for a faded paint look anyway.
Ta mate!

Purchased a pot of Acrylic 154 from my local model shop whilst in town earlier this afternoon.

I'll give it a go later....

Aahh. Sorry Giz, should have said, I used enamel. I don't get on with acrylics for brush painting, only airbrushing. I find acrylics to be too wishy washy for brushing - and yellow tends to be bad enough as it is. See how you get on, but be VERY careful of the base coat you're applying it to.

Well, they seem to sit together okay, the slightly higher box car balances the loco as the crane itself isn't very tall. It looks like time for careful consideration and some high-class wheedling.
Thanks for the pictures Mel, of course you could still post more....:D

Oooooooh, could almost want me to have a derailment every day :admire:
Although it's flaming typical, you line up THE great shot and some wazzock in a hi-viz jacket wanders into the frame :wits:
For 'small' diesel I thought of this one:

Should be okay mate, as I used a Humbrol Acrylic spray can for the original no 69 yellow, hence buying a small tinny of 154 to see if the match is closer to the Matra crane colour....

Well, I've just put a coat of Humbrol 154 on my match wagon and it is definitely more orangey than the no 69 yellow, and therefore closer to the Matra crane colour....

(And I can now post pix since the software update; couldn't so so at home before!)

Saw one of these at my local model shop today, a Lionel V3 in DB livery.

Kinda cute huh?

It's the Bachmann Gas Mechanical loco, which has been 'Germanised' and retails for £124.

Might buy one for a small shunting layout, using the HLW wagons I have....

Well in the interests of the economy I looked at some prices and they vary quite a bit, these are prices for 'new' locos:

Piko diesel shunter (Mels pic) €255
LGB Rügen (Mels pic) €379
LGB Schoema €179 (special offer, usually about €220-€230)
LGB Kö (as I pictured above) €389
LGB Köf (pictured below) €380

So the Piko looks like a good deal or buy used LGB with no guarantee etc. This could be tricky, especially as I seriously like this little monkey:

That is the Kö, also available in red with LGB on the side or blue as a German industrial loco. Looks new, why haven't you [strike]played[/strike] run it?
The banana on wheels is the Köf, also available in red with standard gauge buffers. No guesses which one you and I would like to have
The Kö and Köf are about the same price, but as I pointed out the Piko shunter is about €130 cheaper which is some nice wagons to go with or a new frock for her. :*
Or I could risk death and buy an IV k for €600, but hey, she didn't get me anything for my birthday :party:last Sunday so I'm justified. Aren't I?

Dunno, which one would we like ? ;)
