Demo video of the Massoth Powercap micro power buffer in operation

A brief video of my LGB "Kleine Dicke" loco, now fitted with a power buffer to get it nicely over dirty track or even a long dead section as shown. A really excellent bit of kit for small locos or those with few pickups. I'll be doing a write up of how to fit the power buffer soon.

Brill.

Will look forward to the write-up, Peter - wiring in power buffers is one thing I've not tried yet.

Curtains Mike! Discovered in a shop in Worcester by Mrs Whatlep. What a woman!

Very good, I agree power buffers, from any manufacturer, are very affective on small locos with few pickups. Massoth were not my favourite in the past due to the large size of their previous two power buffer versions, although they worked very well. The new micro version seems like a smart idea. Most of mine have the Lenz power 3, but I've got some Massoth powercap micros to try out now.

One thing I didn't do, which I note was done in this case, is to remove the skates. I'm going to give that a go.

Thanks Cliff. One side benefit of installing a power buffer is that you can remove the skates, thereby greatly increasing the haulage power of small locos (and, to my eye, removing an eyesore!).

The review and installation guide I promised is now available in the reviews section of the Forum.

That's very impressive Peter!

You could have isolated the bridge/flap completely and the loco would have still got across....

Funny you should say that Gizzy. None of the electrical connectors at the lift span's ends are in place, so the whole thing was indeed dead. The tape was just for visual effect!

Couldn't have done any of it without your soldering. Since you've "outed" yourself in the review thread, many public thanks for a marvellously skilled job on the onboard decoder and for being an example of just what a friendly, helpful community there is on GSC.
