Re: chipping a lgb crock for gorden

:timeout: right this is were papperpen pays off..... after haveing a brew/nicoteen break.....
useing the multimeter.... i figured out the wireing loom....and its FUN!!

Track power-=brown wire, from motorblock to the multiplug, then=,its becomes the green=the goses back to brown in the rear motor block, then track......

motor feed -=green out off motorblock,=becomes white in multiplug, then back to green in rear motorblock

motor+our shinny new red wire, to the pin on the small lighting bord, out to the multiplug , its gray... then back to the multiplug, pin, red, into motor

track power+=white wire from motor block, to mulitiplug, then, it becomes yellow, then back to a multiplug=white, to motorblock=track

simplyy,
green-=track-
white-=motor-
gray+=motor+
yellow+=track+
this is the wires colour sceam in the middle off the loco, were we are going to fit the chip, so..... we can test our theroy out, by linking the 2 green wires, and the two white wires all together.....
same for the 2 gray, and 2 yellow wires, so we end up with 2 sepert groups off 4 wires......
if we are correct, it will run on anolog

RE: chipping a lgb crock for gorden

now because we know it runs on anolog..... we can asume,
the 2 green wires go to track-
the 2 white wires go to motor-
the 2 gray wires go to motor+
the 2 yellow wires go totrack+
it may be a diffent on your choices off chip, but they go to thes terminals on the chip
also, gorden wants a on/off switch fitting, so, the 2 green wires go to the leads we soilderd on to the original main bord(switch wires) the wire from the switch, gose to track-

fun bit, make a brew, turn ur p.c on, and boot up the mts interface program, its a necesatiy for testing out the chip/wireing/our work, if its right, the loco judders, nd the computer screen says so.....
tongue.gif
if we have made a mistake, at worst, we have to figure out what we have done wrong, but at least we haven blown up a £150 chip

...... now if u can aford to lose that much, stick it on the track with out testing it..... me, im a skinflint

a sucesse, well done, nearlly there, just the lighting to figure out..... a crock runs with all the front lights on, and 1 rear on, u can identyfy which rear light by
A, knowing it
B looking at the egsiting wireing, it has a red&black wire going to it
so, the chip works with a common feed.... all the lights are feed frm the same sorsce, ..... they are switched on/off at differnt terminals on the chip..... so....ignore the feed , think swicth.... we wire both rear on light, into the cab light teminal..... the remaining 2 front lights go to the front light terminal, as dose the front cab light....... the 2 remaining rear lights and the cab light, gose to the rear light terminal trust me, im a idiot, it will work, when we turn the lights on, in direction off travel, say fowards, the front 3 lights will come on, as will the rear tail light and the front cab light..... in reverse direction, it will be all rear lights, rear cab light, and front tail light
this is tommorors task

RE: chipping a lgb crock for gorden

Hi Mike

just out of interest I was planning not to bother with the existing lighting chip.

I know the RHB always light the right rear so I thought of a different solution direct from the emotion XLS ...

If you wire the front left and rear right to the interior light output.

And the front right, centre and front cabin light to the "front light output"

And the rear left, centre and rear cabin light to the "rear light output"

The loco should behave normally - with funtion 9 all lights go on and off - and the direction will change with driving direction leaving a rear right tail light still on ??

Anyway just a thought !

BTW wht value will you put in CV 50 to get 5volts ?

Cheers
hi brain, thats what i said, but you said it much more clearly.... but, you need to run a sepert feed wire to the "CAB"rear/font lights, the terminal for the cab lights&feed, are next to each other at the other end off the chip..works as you said, re the C.V.s , i altered C.V. 50, from 32, to 5.... lights work with original bulbs
and it sounds great, really difficult bit next...TESTING

as brain put it much much clearer than i could, this is how i wired the crock,

thanks brian, clear and pressise... but u also need to run a seperat feed wire to the bulbs that are feed off the interiure(cab)light output....as shown in the masoth instructions, i will post photos... but its confuseing, with differnt colour wires everywere, i use differnt colours were possable to help my self,

RE: chipping a lgb crock for gorden

right 1st job, on the lighting side, is to thread 3 differnt colour wires through the chassy, i used blue, black, and yellow..... the yellow wire conects to both rear lights, via the red /black egsiting leads going to the lamp... at both ends... in the middle, at the chip, it gose to CAB LIGHT
smile.gif

the blue wire conects to both rear lamps, via the egsistng black lead going to each rear lamp, in the middle, at the chip, it gose into the 24+ terminalNEXT TO the CAB LIGHT treminal, as masoth instructions

try to think off each cuircet seperatly, if u try to think off them all together, your brain melts.....
right, remember this red egsisting wire we cut back? well we are going to use it as the main feed wire for the rest off the lights....

in the middle, at the chip, add a extra red wire to the two ends off the egsisting red wire, and fit to the 24+ terminall on the same side off the chip as we fitted the motor /track power, as masoth instructions...... at each end off the loco, wire 1 lead each, from the two remaining lamps, 1 in the bonnet, 1 on the loco, to the end on the red wire, covering all jionts with heat shrink.....

the black wire.... this gose to the remaining leads to the lights at each end.....
in the middle, at the chip.... cut the wire in half..... the front end black wire, add a nother black wire to it, long enought to reach the cab lights.... and fit the two ends into the front light terminals.....
the rear end black wire, again, add a nother wire to it, and fix to the rear light terminals......
we have now wired up all the bottom lights, only the cab lights to do....
biggrin.gif

so losely re fix the two bonnets
