Ok so a picture in post one shows some rolls of the magic used to create these, sorry if you have explained elswhere but what are these some sort of self adhesive vinyl tape?

Yes, it is automotive vinyl tape/pin striping from ebay, and also spray paint. It was an experiment. Some of the peices needed to be heated up to fit certain corners. Pictures of the ICE 3 show the vinyl being applied and also the creation of a Bord bistro car from an old yellowed re paint.
