Building the San Juan Central RR

I like it! but I can see those facing points at the station throat might cause some problems when backing down?

Looking good, I must say I envy you the freedom to build a blo&dy big layout in the middle of the lawn!!
Ah well Ian its the back end of the garden, which wasn't being used for much else. The ground looks flat but goes up and down like a ducks whatsit in water. It was part of an old orchard and tends to get raided by moles, so its more like a flat field than a garden lawn. I was getting fed up mowing the grass as well, so what better way of getting rid of most of it?

Forgot to say there's still plenty of grass the other end of the garden

Ok started coating the wood with bituminous primer before putting the roofing felt on

All cut edges being covered, and the tops so that any condensation won't soak in hopefully

That'll do it Jerry.
Who are the three skinny fellas leaning against your fence?

That's the beds i keep handy for the Chinese coolies I have working on the Railroad :rolf:

Quite an elaborate system you have there.

Wow ! Trains running already !

I hope you're going to have some nice spindly bridges or trestles on this lot.

Thanks gentlemen.

Cliff you must be joking, might have all the roofing felt on be next week, fingers crossed.
David yes there's at least one big high spindly semi circular bridge just before snake head pass. Others may be put in as I do the scenery.
Dan I hope when the scenery's done it will look more like a railway in the landscape than a big dipper as it does now

Well, thats what I was hoping....
TinCup mine as well ?

May be David though I didn't use the track plan that Malcolm Furlow used. But it was the inspiration !!

Well the branch station finally has all the track laid, now all I have to do is wire it all up :bigsmile

only thirteen days to open day :wits:
its only taken thirteen months to get this far, so I think starting the scenery will be next years project

Impressive Jerry!

As for getting the power on, it only needs 2 wires from your Massoth 1200Z....

Excellent work Jerry.
You have even included the ramp for the coaling station. That was something that I regret not having the room to be able to include by the coaling station at Beaver creek yard on my layout but you have given me the impetus so I might get one 'cobbled' up for behind the coaling station at Pointrock instead.

Really Gizzy I wish someone would tell the turntable that :rolf::rolf::rolf::rolf: but of course your right re the rest of the railway. Anyone got a spare lokpilot xl or any other non sound 3 to 4 amp decoder they want to sell? (the turntable has a large motor)
