Big hualer transformed

Love it looks great. Yes I think I will be checking on a new chassis. I had one laying around and sold it . Now I will have to buy another one lol. So what body is that on there? It looks great.
Scratch built plastic card body, basically a plastic box with detail and turned Brass Chimney n Dome plus some other turned parts.

Thanks . I'm pretty happy with it. Looks better than it did I think..

Great job, I've got a couple I need to do the same thing with.

So, you just taped off the roof, and perhaps a few other areas, and then sprayed the whole Locomotive...then followed up with some additional weathering and detail brush work?

Haveyou thought about one of the US supplied replacement quality chassis? Not sure if the small US company that made them still going, but you are in the right Country to find out.
Barry's Big Trains is no longer in business, and I know of no other after-market supplier of chassis.
The problem with the original green Big Hauler 4-6-0 is the plastic wheels, which wear out and leave grunge all over your rails.

However, Bachmann sells the complete chassis, often at a discount. This is a mere $45 (49% off!) and has metal wheels. It will take a bit of work to make it fit.

Yes I taped off the roof and sprayed the whole thing. Then I painted the bands around the boiler silver. I had some windows from a old caboose that I used in the cab . The loco was then weather using a product called rustall it has 4 steps but I only used the rust color and the black color. . Then lightly misted the whole thing with flat black again. Thanks for the great comment. Looking forward to seeing your big hauler transformed..IMG_20170828_135424362.jpg IMG_20170829_225721263.jpg IMG_20170829_225646443.jpg

Thanks for the info. I will be getting one of those. I really think it turned out better than expected. So I really would like to run it sometimes. Glad you can still get parts.

Love the shelving that's reminiscent of a trestle! I may have to borrow that idea for some of my stuff which is currently languishing in boxes until some time in the future when I get around to starting a new G scale project.

Sure I borrowed it from someone on eBay was selling them. And fortunately they put very detailed pictures on there lol. I really like the idea.here are a few more pictures of the shelving. Thanks for the comments.

Here is a little update on the big hualer. My new chassis came . Really nice smooth running. Now just need to paint the wheels and cow catcher black. I believe this is a Christmas one . And actually the red is not bad. May just dirty them up instead.. not sure.

I have been thinking quite seriously about a High Line in my front sitting room, except for where the Station is to be that Trestle would make a much better look.
