Automatic tipping waggon

So I want an automatic tipping waggon - So is there a good LGB or other wagon g scale to modify to do this ?

I do not want to use DCC or MTS etc as I do not have those systems - so manual release or some ideas on automatic at a certain point would be good.

The filling of the waggon will be the next issue lol but that I think I can do with an automatic fish feeder than I re-rig to do the job
 
LGB 41613 might meet your requirements, but you will need the special track piece as well. This can be activated by a switch....

Most tipper wagons can be easily modified for automatic tipping by a discrete wire along the side and something to push to tipper over. Davids post above neatly shows a solution that could be upped to our scale. I would put the loops used to lift the tipper next to a building to make them more unobtrusive.

the lever was pressed downwards by a length of wire, shoving the lid of the chute upwards.
(the plan was to fill it with a faller-E-train (Gauge 32mm) serving as a mine shortline. that part was not realized)

This layout is by Giles Favell - his book "Trains, Cranes and Automobiles - Radio Control for Model Railways" is a fabulous read. He is a master of these sorts of dioramas - as well as weathering!

His industrial 7mm scale Garratt is a joy to behold and has inspired some of my work - have a look at his site: .... By Giles

Current weathering tests in Fn3 scale as of today on both Bachmann and LGB product:

All are going to be converted to more prototypical link & pin but the LGB cars will require a 3D printed extended shank to allow sufficient swing without the cars hitting edges on LGB curves at the club track.

(NB: anyone who wishes to sell me some of the LGB wagons would be most welcome!)

The Bachmann side tipper is probably too brown for what I'm after - this is a shot of a prototype from the Fyansford Cement Works in the yard at Drysdale:

Different frame and wheels (note the small buffers that lined up with the Hudswell Clarke 0-4-2 locomotives that worked them) but the same tipping structure.

I just had a look at the one I have, but I can't find an LGB number on it.

I'll try and see if I can find more details....

Found it, the Disengaging Rail is LGB 10154.

I haven't yet installed mine. It seems the wagon should have an electric motor inside which raises the side wall of the wagon. None of my 3 wagons has this motor installed as far as I can see.

The wheel sets should have carbon bullets on backs, but again mine don't have any or the wiring I would expect to see for any motor.

I brought my last 41613 wagon just before Christmas. It was quite cheap, and had plastic wheel sets. So I reckon it was a similar wagon in a differently numbered box. It did come with the LGB Service Instructions which show the circuit diagram for the motor.

One day, I hope to find one with all the electrical gubbins inside, so I can operate it remotely.

For now, my wagons are loaded with my RC HuiNa digger....

I quite like the look of these side tipping wagons, although the LGB version is not quite right for the RhB 'FAU' wagon it is based on. The real one has platforms for the operating staff at each end of the wagon.

Here are my 3 wagons running at a recent indoor operating day behind a Gm 4/4....

I have both tipping gondolas, 41610 and 41613. I converted both to DCC operation so I can 'dump' anywhere on my layout. I got 2 of the same color automated units and swapped parts from one to the non motorized unit. So I have 2 different numbers and 2 different colors. I assume you could do this with with non DCC layouts with some type of remote control and do like I do and dump anywhere.
Note the 'special' track for the LGB dumping gondola is an isolated track section and uses only one rail to power the same side of the car.
