Anybody here attended one of GRS's Massoth Training Days?

Title of thread says it all, really - is there anyone on here who has actually been to one of the Massoth days that GRS (Garden Railway Specialists) hold a few times a year?
If so, was it worthwhile, in your opinion?
I'm thinking of going on one, but would like to hear some feedback if anyone has already been.
It's thirty quid for the day, inc. lunch, which is quite reasonable - but then of course you've got to add fuel expenses etc, so I'm not going to see much change out of £100 to go - but they do sound interesting, and having got all the kit but not yet used it apart from a few quick tests I think I would find the instruction session useful to really get to grips with what it can do.

Why not ask them for a course breakdown first.

Then you can see what you would get for your money.

If its chipping a loco and thats what you need, then its for you!
If its operation and thats what you need, then its for you!
And so on .......

If it dosent fill you missing skills then maybe its not for you, a course is only as good as the contents relavance to the candidates need:bigsmile::bigsmile:
 
I have been on two, and I am just beginning so for me it was worth while. but as mentioned it depends on your requirements. they do hold different levels so its worth while checking.

Thanks, Les - that's what I was after, just some personal opinions on what folks thought they had got out of it. I have seen an outline of what the course covers, but feedback from previous attendees is very useful.

Thanks - well, I've now booked on the course, so I hope it is worthwhile - I'll let folks know after I've been on it!

So did I, i could do with going to another one as i now haveall the kit, and even though i have there very uesfull book / handout a refresher would be good.
Me being a numpty First Class.
 
If you are North at all, Paul at P &S Hobbies in York is a Massoth expert and one of the most generous people in freely sharing his knowledge. Just a thought for folk not being able or willing to go to Buckinghamshire.
 
I don't know if the course is fully booked up yet or not, but it's being held on Saturday 26th May, if anyone else wants to try to get on it?
GRS phoned me with the details, because I'd expressed my provisional interest in one last year - I think they wait till they've got the required minimum number of names on the waiting list to run a course, then call those people, so there may still be a place or two before it's completely full....?

Mmmmm I might try this Jon......

I could run a course session for you on how to mash things up..........even give you a certificate at the end! :rolf:


Just realised that it is my open day on the 27th May :confused:........better not tempt fate and spend the day before, away from the line :nail::nail::nail:
