Any idea what can be on top of this chassis?

I'd build a freelance 7/8th diesel me-thinks!

OR

Using a bashed-up Mogul cab.. a 'AWNUTS' style critter of some sort..

If you're feeling adventurous why not one of the Ochre wooden kits. As an alternative to the chassis you are looking at take a gander at IP Engineering's site. They have some interesting battery powered loco kits. There are also "motor blocks" available from USA Trains(USAT) with differing wheelbases that I'll do the same job, but the one you are looking at is a good price.
Max.

Or there is this from Andel models as an alternative chassis..

Not used one, but looks interesting.

I think that`s the IP chassis that they use in their Punch Kit.  So anything resembling a small industrial diesel should look well on it  (or you can just get the whole Punch kit for £75.00)

(Sorry the piccies a bit small)

May be I can try something different. For example, building a body using Lego. Previously I did build a Lego loco chassis but only thing I didn't like there is having to make use of plastic flanged wheels. I am interested in this chassis because it is very cheap and comes with metal wheels.

The kit locos made by IP engineering of similar manufacturers look very much toy like. Even Playmobil loco looks much better. I admit I never held IP Engineering locos in my hands - so my comment may be bit unfair.

Even though Roundhouse's Little John costs over £550, it still looks like a toy! If metal costs so much money, then they could always offer metal chassis and plastic body built on top of that.

As a contrast, track power locos (like LGB) look impressive!

I'd go for a scratch-build from Plasticard. A boxy shaped diesel such as this would be a really good starting-point.

I have two very similar chassis which I bought many years ago at the Merstham show. On one I built an FS diesel shunter in Gauge 1 and on the other I built a freelance industrial diesel using a Bachmann driver figure to work out some sort of scale to work to. Both locos will still happily waddle along the garden. The batteries seem to last forever.
