Oh so not shoes for walking then, they certainly did not look like that but the description…..English at times can be a very imprecise language, add other side of the pond meanings of things and life gets very complex.Having used them many times working on aircraft I knew exactly what the were.
Used to provide strain relief for plug wiring, provide waterproofing of plug backshell to cable insertion plus many other applications. If you serch for "heat shrink boots" you will find heaps of electrical sites selling them.
Most of the ones I used were dual wall heatshrink the same stuff that I use for my cable joins out in the garden.

My guess would be the forum software can detect an add-blocker is present on the machine, but has no way of knowing that the forum software is allowed to display adverts?As I said I have disabled it for this site and the messages I get often have adverts around them.
