Adverts are totally ruining the forum experience on mobile

Actually, rather than ruining my experience of the forum, I quite enjoy looking forward to what the algorithms think might tempt me to click ..... It's a bit like a weird form of Russian Roulette .....:D

A couple of months ago I was looking at pictures of trams in Sofia on the work computer, with in hours I was receiving spam from sofia@ weight loss/how to improve my business/how to improve bedroom activity/woman that would like to meet me etc. I have often pondered the idea about producing a booklet of spam mail subject titles.

Earlier this year I used my wife's tablet to look up victorian tram user attire, lets just say she wasn't impressed at the suggested website she was invited to join :D

A lot of the things advertised I haven’t a clue as to what they are. I do recognise things like shipping containers but haven’t room for one in the garden.

I did look at getting a container..
Distance from the road, so cranage and insurances (it would have to be lifted over other properties) killed the idea..

PhilP.

Temu seems to have a very strange understanding of what might interest me ......

Let me Guess Rik,

#Your a Grandad,
#Who likes comfy shoes (Clarks Knock offs)
# and are conscious regarding what the news keeps telling you about the environment and heating bills.
#had long hair in the 60s before becoming a respectable teacher
#you often wonder what that plane is circling above and landing at Chester Airbus factory
# and maybe have a few old Camcorder tapes in the loft of railway adventures that need to be converted to digital, but first to VHS.
# The women in tight cloths, well it know your a HE, HIM, THEY so they throw that in for all males for lurid distraction and to try and catch a glance at he the crap. !

Howd I do, the next Betty Wainthropp investigates ?

I would live a shipping container in the garden but like PhilP PhilP I worry about the need for cranage and space in the garden. If you have a big area at the side to allow lorry access I am not sure a crane is required as they can be removed from the truck by raised legs. Though planning permission (UK) may be required in certain circumstances.

we all know your secret now
So I'm the only one that sees this? I don't even want to know what 25% is supposed to be off in the photo on the bottom left.

Surely there has to be a filter that if Etsy is going to display marketing content to end users it is at least of some level of suitability?

I've had similar, but it seems to have diminished lately. I now get other more useful and interesting stuff mixed in with the scantily clad ladies. I wonder if only we older guys get Samantha Fox.

I shudder to think what you’ve been looking at/searching for in the past that results in algorithms producing that!

Suggestions……. NEVER, EVER use any google product. Always instruct apps ‘not to follow’. Use a search engine like Duck Duck Go. Use a browser like Safari. Oh, and……NEVER, EVER use any Google product. …..and if you have Gmail, be VERY careful what you put in emails.

;-)

I just checked how to pay to upgrade membership to remove the Sam Fox adverts.

19 of His Majesty's finest pound sterling.

As a newbie to the site, I'd be happy to pay 5 quid, maybe even a tenner a year, to remove the adverts and so contribute the running of what is a great forum.

At £19 though, it's a bit steep and I will suffer Sam Fox in a swimsuit.

I'd imagine at a lower rate more members might subscribe? Just my thoughts.
